It is rumored that once there were creatures that walked on two legs and held strange devices of power in their deformed paws. They kept as as guardians and guides and treated us well. Some befriended our kind, but such a unity was not meant to last. Our legends tell us that one by one these two leggers fell like pups with the deadly parvo virus and soon, they were gone from the world.
We have began to write our own history since then, though our numbers were diminished in those early days...Our captivity left us ignorant of the natural world and our own instincts. Slowly, we and other animals of the world began to learn what it took to survive...and survive we did. Some of us, those that we call loners, developed a wanderlust for the world beyond our city. Some have returned with vast, wild stories of an untamed world, far greater than our own, but many whom roam do not return for reasons unknown.
What matters now is that we are together in our alliances and that our city of Aberton remains strong as we are. They say there are creatures beyond our world that will eat us alive...and I don't doubt them. The world is a cruel place, my child, and we must live in it.
